Hello again everyone, so November... it was good, its been constantly cold up here at Hume and we have started to make and lay our own snow, via snow machine. Winter camp is just around the corner and after my week visit to Mac I'm ready for it. There have been many changes up here, mostly loosing people.
After thanksgiving we discovered that about three to fore people ether transferred from food service or up and quit. this leaves us short handed and makes the days a bit more stressful, especially when there are three hundred people waiting to eat. But you could say its the grunt of the job. Also the lake right now is non-existant. After coming back from my viset home i saw that the lake had been drained, ill try to get some before and after pictures up.

Another new development is, I, with in the next month or so will be running a collage welcoming ministry for the staff up here. About 40% of our staff is between 19-24, me and another girl are looking to begin a ministry focused on them, basically it will consist of once a week meeting with simply worship and eventually we are going to head down the hill once a month and serve in a soup kitchen.
I am really excited about this because it gives me something to really focus on and not just sit at Hume and get fat.(which has happened to a few people i know up here).

Anyway thanks for reading and ill post again in a few weeks probable.

O ya for any of you Beaver Fans Out there, maybe next year.

Greetings again from Hume, things are still going great and I officially had to buy house supplies, Windex and toilet paper, woot woot.
Some cool and new news, I was invited to a free trip to Disneyland with free entry and a place to stay, something I am really excited about.
The week after I'll be heading to San Fransisco to see the band Copeland, me and the group Im going with are going to stay at the YWAM base downtown, so I'm really excited to be heading back to a YWAM base and be able to interact with some ywamers.
Anyway

I have been at Hume for around a month now and I'm loven it. I'm all set up in my house and I don't have a room mate. everyone up here is really nice and I have made plenty of new friends. more or less all the full timers down here are sort of a big family. on Sundays I go to a church down the hill called The Well and its really similar to The Way up in Portland.
all in all its been great,
thanks

20 to launch

So as many of you may know I'm getting ready to leave Oregon for the next year.
I'm going to be heading to Hume Lake where I'll be the lead staff in the dish room, for those of you that don't know what exactly Hume is, its the largest Christian Camp in America and i would dare to say the world. They host over 10,000 high school students alone during the summer, there are also middle school and grade school programs, there are collage camps and the discipleship school Joshua for post High school young adults.
In the off season, i.e. winter, Hume has a number of conferences ranging from a conference specifically for def and the heard of hearing,(i cant wait for this one, the worship music is amplified through a number of massive sub woofers so you can feel the music) to fathers son and mother daughter conferences.
Its going to be amazing being there for the next year, I was able to be summer staff there last Summer just before heading to YWAM, and now ill have the chance to influence people working under me at a place i have grown to love over the years.
Besides being staff there and living there last summer I was a three year camper and a counselor for my church this last summer.

A look for whats to come,
I have recently been looking to University Of Oregon, as much as I may not like it I do value education and I'm going to be most likely moving to Eugene in the fall of 09 and start working for my degree.
My heart for missions is what is driving me to college. I will be working towards international studies and religious studies, I think to be as effective as I can I need to understand other cultures and religions. That's about it for now, I'm going to keep this blog updated so I don't go crazy. thanks for stopping by,
In Him, Matt
